Problems treated

  1. I click on Get'em, but nothing happens.
  2. The queries are added to the search queue, but then it just sits there.
  3. Ok, I added the networks, still no search results.

1. I click on Get'em, but nothing happens.

Look under the [progress]-tab. The tab will change its caption to show the progress (this caption is not updated perfectly in the tech-preview). Switch to the progress-tab to follow it.

2. The queries are added to the search queue, but then it just sits there.

You need to set up some networks for things to start happening. Look under the [networks]-tab and add some napster servers. Read the walkthrough on how to do this.

3. Ok, I added the networks, still no search results.

Well... the napster servers out there are terribly overcrowded. They are not too good at returning search results. Scoundrel has a 2 minute timeout on the searches, and if it doesn't receive a "search complete"-response within that time it will try the next query. However, most napster servers can't handle this situation and if you start getting timeouts, the server will not serve up any answers.

IT IS NOT SCOUNDREL'S FAULT. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE SERVER IS SIMPLY NOT CAPABLE OF HANDLING THAT MANY USERS. LOGON TO A DIFFERENT SERVER AND/OR AT A DIFFERENT TIME OF DAY..

It is possible to configure the maximum number of search results to ask a server for - LOWER THIS NUMBER IF THE SERVER IS GETTING A LOT OF TIMEOUTS.

Since this is a tech-preview, you are going to have to handle this manually. Look under the [debug]-tab and check to see what servers are not replying (if you don't understand what pops up under the debug-tab, then don't bother with this. Just try some other servers) and then remove/disable them.

Sometimes reconnecting helps, sometimes not. Trying again later can also help. Your patience will be greatly rewarded when it works...
